Q/A Building Yourself to be a Better Person

Updated: Oct 22, 2020

Q: How do you build yourself up to be a better Christian?

A: We become like the people we surround ourselves with, so put yourself in Christian circles by joining a bible study class, small group study, or prayer group. Our faith increases in proportion to our knowledge of God’s word. Set aside time every morning to read the bible and pray. This may sound so simple, but it works. How does a doctor train to practice medicine? She spends time in school, surrounded by others that are on the same path as she is. Through her connection with like-minded peers, they learn from each other. They grow together. Each year they dive deeper into their studies. Though they might receive a degree, they never finish learning. Medicine is constantly evolving. They must stay immersed in their field of discipline to keep improving. We take this same approach when learning about God. He also calls us to be in a relationship with him. How do you build relationships with other people? You spend time together. You learn from each other. We build a relationship with God in the same way. We spend time with him through prayer. We learn from him by reading his Word, and surrounding ourselves with other like-minded friends. The formula really is that simple. You are heading in the right direction by asking these questions! Good for you!
