From Shem to Abram

WHAT I LEARNED WHEN I READ THE BIBLE

After the fall of the Tower of Babel, the Bible creates a bridge from the various falls of man in chapters 1-11 of Genesis, to the patriarchal stories of chapters 12-50. That bridge is Abram (later called Abraham). In Genesis 11:10-26 we see the genealogy of Shem, who was Noah’s blessed son. It is through Shem’s family line that Abraham was born. Thus, the blessing that Shem received is beginning to play out in history.
